Some purchasers of the 2015 $200 1 Ounce Gold Roaring Grizzly Bear Coin may be in luck as 2 versions of the coin have been reported. One version has the mints security mark on it and the other version doesn't have the security mark. The Gold coin has a mintage of only 250 pieces and sold out rather quickly. Most of the owners are still unaware of the error. Which version the error is, is unknown at this time. I am sure the details will be available within the next few days.

I find it hard to believe, that for a mintage of 250 pieces, more than a single set of dies were made...

Quote: Talisman purchased a significant quantity of the Proof coin's 250-piece mintage, and there was an almost equal distribution of both versions of the coins, he said. Even if there are equal proportions of each type - you'll likely see the 'error' coin in NGC and PCGS holders, and probably fetching premiums above issue. Why couldn't this error be for 1 ounce silver coins (instead of gold), and available to lots of collectors... maybe next time....

Could one of the Moderators please return this thread to the Variety and Error section please as that is exactly what this is. I can see why it was accidentally placed in the NCLT section however it is an error and a Error Collector would most certainly not be looking in the NCLT area for Errors and Varieties.
Thanks a million

Could turn into a mule type of coin but if there is enough of each types, probably not much of a market due to it's large original price.

Cool, nice to see the RCM can still make mistakes with dies etc, gone are the days of Double dates etc , hard to believe they can still make mistakes like this but good for error collectors.

If there is close to an equal amount of the reverses used it will only carry a small premium, it's the 1 or 2 types of an off metal or double strikes, brokerage, ect., that creates wow factors in errors.

A total of 55 examples of the Royal Canadian Mint's latest error coin escaped the Mint, according to an RCM spokesperson.

There is enough examples to dampen much interest in this type of error, still neat if you got one at issue.
