Go somewhere with a vending machine and bring some spare pocket money that's lying around. Then put some money in, then click the reject/change button. In some vending machines, different coins fall out, and you can easily get new commemorative quarters and stuff. Still looking for silver on that thing.

Feel free to post your finds!

Here's what I found:

Won't happen at my machines!! I own a couple machines and ive found some nice stuff!! Like a 2012 clipped dime, 1991 quarter, 2009 men's hockey raised 2. There definitely is some nice coins to be found in a vending machine!

I have done something similar before. The vending machine didn't give out different change if I pressed the change button but I noticed if I put more change than I needed for whatever I was buying the change I got back would be different, so I would load up all the change I had on me and exchange it for new stuff to look through. Have never really found anything special doing it yet but that doesn't deter me from continuing to do it.

I'm in the US, the best I've found trying vending machines was a 1957 Jefferson nickle.

I used to load lots of extra change (usually, a bit less than what was needed, then a banknote) into the machines at the metro (underground subway) that sold the single-trip tickets, back when these tickets weren't ludicrously expensive. These machines gave change in 1 and 10 ruble coins, and I got a few nice commemoratives that way (especially the 1 ruble, which was new at the time).
After the single-trip tickets randomly became nearly twice as expensive, I stopped using these machines at all, because it really wasn't worth it; getting a 5 trip ticket and hoping to use at least 3 of these trips (it's valid for 90 days) was cheaper.

Another method is to develop a good relationship with the business teller and ask to see the "reject" tray... (especially if they have their own coin machine)... pick up a tonne of neat stuff

The problem is, the only vending machines I ever pass are the ones at the high school I go to to learn Chinese, I don't even go to that school.

Most of my machine finds are coins from immigrants or maybe tourists trying to pass off their currency. Mostly it's Barbados, Phillipines, India, Brasil, UK, USA, car wash tokens! for the love of... I once knew a Cuban lady who would import coins to use as subway tokens back before they redesigned it. They actually worked in the turnstiles. Watch out for Chilean coins, as they are bimetallic and look similar if you're in a hurry to leave the store and not count your change.
