I know there are probably a million threads on this but I wanted region specific - Sacramento-Folsom-El Dorado Hills.
I am looking for a bank with coin counters, instead of taking in loose change.
My banks have all started to count all my rolls individually, which isn't a problem...I guess.
But for all of those turning in a few $1000 dollars/halves what is your strategy!?
What I used to do is take them to the casino, but I now buy the bags there!

I personally would just call the different banks/branches in the area.
My sweetest setup was when I was turning in wrapped $500 boxes of halves (never had to unwrap to search believe it or not) over to the vault teller and receiving my cash on the spot.
Dimes I would turn over in bags of certain increments of rolls. Re-wrapped in the customer-wrapped they came in and same thing, hand over to vault teller and get cash. Not common but anything's possible.

I got a pretty sweet setup for small scale turn ins. I go the grocery store I used to work at and trade in searched rolls for new rolls I haven't searched yet. obviously this wont work with people doing thousands or even hundreds of dollars a week. but it works fine when I get the itch after the banks are closed or I just want to switch it up a bit

I think I have the sweetest solution I have a bank that takes them back in bags. They even provide the bags, all I do is search and dump the coins into the bags write the total value and my account # on the bags. The bank has taken up to $18,000 a week no issues. You just need to work with the bank manager and see if they can help.

I open the roll, I just don't have to remove the coins to search. I turn the coins back in their original box to my dump bank.

Quote: Fistfulladirt That is an excellent Idea. Thanks. It's very simple roll searching method but I'm not going to spell it out. Problem is finding a bank to accept the spoils.

From what my bank tells me, Brinks won't accept boxes back unless sealed. So when they get too much wrapped coins back and need to return them. Someone at the bank has to unroll them and put them into a bag so Brinks will accept them. That is why they provide me the bags and let me return in bags, that way they are not putting in time to return my dump to Brinks. I used to wrap and dump as well until they explained the process.
