I'm not sure that the first side isn't upside down, but it's not very readable anyway. Just looks like gibberish really.
The other side quite clearly says Mascot AEZ. I suspect that the AEZ stands for Alpha Epsilon Zeta, and is thus some kind of fraternity.

It is a "magician's token", used to promote the magic shows of Anna Eva Fay, an Indian-themed magician in America in the late 1800s and early 1900s. It is her initials "AEF" that appear below the seated deity. There are several different varieties of token from this magician. Run "Anna Eva Fay magic token" into Google Images and you'll get pages and pages of them, showing the basic types. This is one of the "Vishnu" types. Here's an old CCF thread with a different type, though with many of the same design elements.
