At local coin show (for $1 US), I bought the WWI British Victory Medal of Private Alexander J. Barrie of the Army Service Corps.

There was an Alexander J. Barrie born in 1891 in Nottingham Nottinghamshire Leicester (Formerly St Marys Part Of). During the 1901 UK Census he was 10 years old and lived in Leicestershire.

Neat piece of history

The ANS has uniface test pieces of the obverse and reverse of this medal. They list the artists as Bertram Mackennal and William McMillan.

From what I can find online it is silver.

'Twas the annual coin show, and I don't think the owner of the table cared much about the tokens and medals in her $1 box.

The rim states: M4 242420 PTE A.J. BARRIE A.S.C. Google did the rest: ASC is Army Service Corps. A search of A. Barrie Army Service Corps brought up Alexander J. Barrie.

FWIW, JM Barrie had a brother Alexander, but he was Alexander Ogilvy Barrie.
