Obverse looks XF 40 (with gouge) and the reverse is gorgeous at AU 50.

There is no way this is AU-50. Maxed out at EF-45, but I think it is solid at that level.

Could you post larger pictures of the damaged area. I am wondering it it could be a lamination or a strike-through.
