I recently came across a 1996 silver maple leaf in a high grade...MS66/67.

I gather that 1996 is a low mintage year and some on-line sellers are asking for a large premium.

Is there really much of a market for these or are these sellers just dreaming? Is a high grade coin worth certifying?

If anyone has any views I would be most grateful.

Any maples that are pre-2005 are tough to find in grades above MS66. APMEX used to sell them for about $200 CDN, but have long since sold out. I guess some collectors would rather pay the $200 for the premium graded version, than send 20 to ICCS/PCGS/NGC and have them all grade MS64.

There is a 1993 and 1994 Maple on ebay in MS68 NGC for under a hundred bucks each. To me, that price is very reasonable. Maples are like libertads, very hard to find in MS67+ grades. Eagles, however, all seem to grade 69/70.

Until they get the dreaded milk spots.
