I don't see many 1884 CC Morgan's in circulated grades,
most of them were in the GSA hoard.
This is really a nice looking coin, for a lower grade.
My guess would be AG 3, to me not enough rim to make G 4.

I wanted a heavily circulated 1884-CC, rather than the usual, blast white GSA. Finally found what I was looking for, GR58.  Not worth a ton, just a conditional oddity only rarely encountered. Hoping for AG-3 when I submit to PCGS. Edited by DoubleEagle20

Interesting that more members are not responding to
this coin. You really don't see many low grade 1884 CC's
Something like 84% of the total mintage of 1884 CC's
were in the GSA hoard. I am sure many of that 16% percent
that were out in the wild, were MS coins, in collectors
hands. There must have been a very small amount of coins
that saw much circulation.
I do think a coin like this, is very rare in this condition.
Very good candidate for a low ball set.
At least in my opinion.

Interesting coin to grade... a G4 should have definitive line outlining the rim. This coin 'barely' does not have that.
I'd say 'choice' AG3.
And yes... I love this coin much more than the typical GSA holdered coin that you see at every show.

I'm leaning towards a G-4.
AG-3 generally needs more wear into the letters.

I used to own a G-6 1903-O, Cascade. Sold off most of the Morgan dollars when I went into bust halves. I have continued to collect 1878-1885 Carson City Morgan dollars, though. 1878, 1879, 1882, 1883 and 1884-CC are circulated coins. 1880, 1881 and 1885-CC are GSA's. Keep an eye out, you will find one. PCGS estimates that there are 5-10k survivors of the circulated 1884-CC's out there. Edited by DoubleEagle20

I knew I had seen another one of these lately, I just could not remember who posted it. As I get older that is happening more often. I think your 1884 CC .... is a grade nicer than the one I picked up today.  |

Personally, I like 'em better with some hones wear on them. Makes for a nice change from the run-of-mill GSA hoard example.

It is definitely a nice coin for the grade. I like 'em like this. I saw a circulated 1883-CC at the local flea market yesterday, but the table was full of people, so I couldn't take a good look.
