Having not bought anything for a little while but not wanting to part with too much money I just acquired these three coins.

All are types I have been wishing to cross off my "to buy" list so after seeing how cheap the Byzantine coin was I got all three from the same store on V-coins in order to combine shipping. The total just crept into 3 figures sterling.

Any extra information and comments welcome...

The mineralisation on the surface of the Elymais coin is not unattractive to me, but does everyone think that the surface looks inert? Should I do anything with it (treat with Verdi-care just in case?)

Nice mixed bag. The blue deposits give the coin some character, but I would watch the green stuff. From the picture it looks stable and doesn't appear to be bronze disease but I would keep an eye on it.
Rest in Peace

I like all three. Doesn't look like the patination is spreading.

Nice group of coins, David. A few words about the Elymaean attribution: the most recent serious study of Elymaeans was conducted by P. A. van't Haaff ("Catalogue of Elymaean Coinage" from 2007). Van't Haaff's work is pretty much the new standard for this series. In his study he updates a number of Alram's attributions, including Alram's 469-470's. His take on your coin is the following.

Orodes III
2nd century AD
Van't Haaff 16.1.1-1

It's darn near impossible to acquire Elymaean bronzes that are free of deposits/verdigris. I agree yours looks stable, but of course it'll be prudent to check it once in a while. Good example of the type, btw. I remember admiring that very coin several times at Vcoins...almost took the plunge. I'm glad you got it.

Thanks Bob, you are the go to guy on Parthia/Elymais so your opinion and info is always well noted. It's quite a revelation telling me of the incorrect attribution of ruler. Glad you guys agree it looks inert... I will rub some Verdicare on it since that can do no harm and stick it in a 2x2... will keep my eyes open for any changes.

Well, to be fair to the dealer: not so much an "incorrect attribution" in this case as simply an outdated one. As I've stated before, Elymaean attributions - and even Parthian attributions - are sometimes a moving target given the ongoing adjustments suggested by new research.
