coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 03/01/2016 5:11 pm It is incuse. Note the reflection on the coin? Light is coming from the SE. Light is on the left side of the devices. (Note the front of the face) Then note the area in question. The light is show on the right side of the devices. Indicating it is sunk into the coin. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 03/01/2016 5:53 pm The Reed Marks on the cheek tell me the coin was damaged after the coin was struck. There is nothing on the die that should make this happen. It might be contact from another coin or just coin damage from another coin that created that mark in that area? Sometimes light can be deceiving. It can make it appear one thing in one direction and go away when turning the coin a bit. I found that true on a coin years ago. At one angle it looked like something, then turning the coin it sent away. Abe doesn't look happy here. But turn the coin and take another shot it went away. So on your coin I'm think it was some form of damage to the coin. Especially with the Reed Marks on the cheek. Report this Post to the Staff
