I just finished a day and half search of approx. 1,200 pennies looking for the 1999 double nines, 2005P CPZ and 2006P CPZ.Zilch. Nada. While searching I did notice a lot of the "die crack" varieties. so I continued looking for that also.WOW ! thats all there is . Of the 1989-2003 New Effigy coins I searched (about 125 in MS state and by no means all of them) 104 had some type of the crack visible. If anything a coin with no crack(s) would be the variety.

Also with every handful(about 40-60 ) I would drag a magnet through them expecting about 30-40% to be magnetic. Nope.the most I ever pulled was about 10, the lowest 2.
Going by Charltons shouldn't this be a little more even Steven?
Any thought's on either matter?

Statistics on 1989 to 2003 cents will not be 30%-40% "magnetic"
only half of the 2002 and 2003 will be steel composition from circulation.
All the rest will be zinc or copper unless they are cut from the 2001 set or the 1999 token set.

If you are looking for 2005 and 2006 p zinc check the mint sets, not the rolls.

Canacoins - I'm doing the same as you but take your search 1 more step. All P magnetic coins for all years check for non mags, all non mags check for mags, rotations especially 1997,2003p old queen for the ghosted 00s,Americans 1970 small date and 1969 double die. Search the American varieties and you will be surprised what your missing. Anything unusual. I also sort and reroll by year for future examinations.Example 2009 non mags and 2006 mags are worth selling even circulated by roll. This is what I do,if I'm going to put the time in I want the best bang for my buck.
