I recently came across this in a batch of coins my grandfather had. I know absolutely nothing about Australian coinage, and was wondering if anyone could help me out with this. I mainly specialize in Lincoln Cent varieties, so spotting a doubled die isn't something I'm new at. However, I can't seem to find a thing online about this variety. Does anyone know if this is in Rennick's Australian pre-decimal coin varieties? Thanks in advance for the help.

I thought the same thing at first. Normal Machine Doubling is flat and shelf-like reducing the size of the device it affects. The "doubled" areas on this coin are are rounded. What do you mean by recut?
