Note Collector, wow! what a question. Not sure where to begin so let's begin with YOUR preference for the kind of notes you're going to collect. Gotta get a focus and then do your research. You might wish to browse through this CCF thread:

If you don't subscribe to paper money periodicals you might consider Bank Note Reporter. You might also consider an SPMC membership.

techwriter has made a great post.

I'll add to it and say if you're after a general book on US currency you can't go wrong with A Guide Book of United States Paper Money by Arthur and Ira Friedberg. The newest edition came out in 2014.

If you're focusing on a specific type there may be book(s) dedicated to that area (e.g. obsoletes).

I have a list of the various titles of books about paper money on my computer. I'd be happy to send it to you or anyone else that would like to have a copy. It's not a complete listing by any means however it is fairly extensive.

Thank you Techwriter and MeadowviewCollector. I collected a few notes before I really jumped into the hobby and now I'm ready to learn more. I have "A Guide Book of United States Paper Money" on the way. I appreciate your posts.

What are you attracted to - large or small notes? There are great books for both of them.
