As mentioned in a previous post, I won a lot in the recent TOREX auction run by TCNC. My bid was placed on a bid sheet shortly before I returned to the US to avoid sales tax. The lot I won was #386: NFLD 1872H 50 Cent ICCS AU-50 which, according to their site which I am looking at as I write this, sold for $575. Today, the invoice arrived with a hammer price of $750 and a buyer's fee of $112.50; the grand total with everything else comes to $895.95. My guess was that the actual winning bid was $500 and the 15% fee brought the sale price to $575, but even if that is mistaken and I owe 15% on top of 575, the numbers on their invoice do not correspond to reality. Unless I'm missing something, this looks like a rather serious error on their part. I'll be calling tomorrow for clarification. Thoughts?

I am sure if it's a clerical error they will correct it, a couple years ago they miss advertise a unit as ms 65, when the coin arrived it was a 64 they returned the money and shipping costs.

No 'thoughts' on my part with this company (as my mother taught me).
Keep us posted and good luck!

Maybe your invoice has been switched. It hasn't been the first time that a switch has taken place. It happened to me with a much smaller auction company in the past. Have some patience and things will work out. When you are handling a large auction a few hiccups can occur.

Was your bid in USD or CAD ? What box did you check off on the bid sheet?

There seems to be some concerns with TCNC from previous posts but the few transactions I had with them that involved returns were no problem at all. I think they are working hard to overcome some bumps in the road.

Please excuse the lateness of my update; this has been one of my busiest weeks on record. Anyway, I called TCNC and spoke to Eric, the issue was resolved amicably and the coin is now in hand. Apparently, both the auctioneer's book and their database record a winning bid of $750. Eric's guess was that the website was not updated by whomever inputs the hammer prices. PacificCoin, you may be on to something; I'm quite sure I bid in CAD but perhaps the hammer price on the site is in USD; it nearly lines up with the exchange rate at the time. In any event, I'm willing to live with the mystery because this is an excellent coin. Thanks, everyone, for your input.
