Dug this token in Lancaster, TX on the former site of an old church. If anyone can shed any light on its use and what it is, that would be wonderful.

One side says FOR AMUSEMENT ONLY
The other side says THIS TOKEN HAS NO CASH OR TRADE VALUE

It is obviously holed, but looks to have been made that way.

Thanks!

Generic slot machine token, used up until the 1890's to 1940's not worth much when bought in quantity .05 to .10 each they generally are found in the bargain bin in LCS. some had the company names and some had numbers some had holes some didn't Since they were used for 50 plus years by most of the companies there are hundreds of thousands out there and in a lot better shape.
Rest in Peace

There are no more than a few hundred Amusement Token collectors, and many of them only collect the AT's as a side collection, not their main collection.

What you have is called a "Maverick". Which means it cannot be identified as to a place of origin or use.

The one you show is virtually worthless. Put it on your key chain.

Thanks for the info. I know it's not worth anything; was more interested in what its use would have been (gambling, midway games, arcades, rides, etc.) Nice to know an approximate date. It is known that the church's adjacent parcel of land (where this was dug) was used for a bi-yearly travelling carnival. I came across it quite by accident while digging the trash pit (recovered a lot of 40s-60s Dr Pepper, Pepsi & Coke bottles / bottle fragments.)
