Today I got a $20 in some cash-back at the grocery. I saw a stamp on it I assumed was from "Where's George" but when I got home I found it was a Spanish language stamp saying "Registro de la Propiedad E. P. Manta". This appears to be some sort of city land registry in Ecuador (as far as I can tell...)

Has anyone seen this and have any idea why they would have stamped a $20 bill with it?

Rest in Peace

Because of the amount of fake US Currency that is seen in many South American countries, it is not usual to see these stamps that certify the bill is good.

This is a great deal like Trade dollars were counter stamped in China to show they were real.

Actually a heck of a neat item. I'd keep it.

Ecuador no longer has its own currency and uses only the US dollar.
