Hello folks,

Can anyone explain this strange fog (kind of green) that appears when you shine the coin in a specific direction? Personally, I think it looks awesome in person, reminds me of the movie "The Mist"

The coin was graded by NGC as MS67.....Strange...

All info is appreciated! Thanks

Nice coin but don't take the grade to heart.
1998w toonies were not issued for circulation thus it cannot be graded as a circulation coin.
Does this mean NGC will grade PL 1998 toonies from the Ottawa sets as circulation coins?
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

DBM,

I am aware that the 1998W toonies were not in circulation! Who knows though, give it a try may come back as MS73 . Thats actually one of the reasons I decided to purchase the coin for a very nice price, I couldn't resist. I don't understand why its in an MS slab? strange. My main concern here is that mist/fog on the coin, do you have any ideas how that happened?

thanks for all the info

TypeCoin, I purchased the coin in the holder! I have no idea what it looked like before it went in. If it did turn cloudy in the holder do you have any ideas how that could happen?

Thanks

Canacoins, I would appreciate that!

The pictures really don't do the coin justice. I wish I had a good camera, maybe its a natural green fog toning on the coin?

Keep me posted. Thanks

I'm pretty sure its toning because when I shine it a certain way the colour disappears. Wouldn't condensation be seen no matter what way you shine the coin?
