Hi guys! Considering purchasing this 1909 Barber half dollar. Very nice details, although I'm a little concerned about the nick on the obverse by the nose. I'd appreciate any thoughts as to a grade.

VF sharpness, but cleaned and scratched. This piece would not get a straight grade if you submitted it to PGCS or NGC. Sorry. The net grade is Fine.
Rest in Peace

VF-35 for technical grade. Mechanical cleaning. Partial retone. The scrape at the nose is ALWAYS going to be the first thing ANYONE sees. Unless you just need a "hole filler" and can get this for seriously cheap, it's not one I would recommend.

Every time you see this coin the scrape on the nose will look bigger

If and when you ever try to sell it you would lose many potential buyers from the combination of mechanical cleaning and that terribly placed scrape.

That nick by the nose is the first thing that I saw. but I would call it more like a gouge . also the coin was cleaned.
You made the right decision to pass it by.
