I am still going through my Morgans and trying to pick the best of each date lot.

Toned 1882-S, seems free of any bag marks with toning.
Thanks for your opinions! RK

I think it might make full 65. I love the natural gold luster, too.

MS-64. If this were something other than an early 1880s Morgan dollar from the San Francisco Mint, it might get an MS-65, but these coins were made well and come nice.

You could get lucky given that some people now think that "grade-flation" is in full boom at the TPGs. The trouble is this coin, with the toning and surfaces, lacks the fire to make anything better than MS-64. And don't you dare dip it! That would only make matters worse by dulling it more. You could go down to MS-63.

I've got to agree with most others; from the picture it surely looks better than a 63. I don't see anything major keeping it from a 65 but I think I see enough cheek/field chatter that would keep it at 64. In addition to the usual nice strike the toning is relatively even (although that goldish color that I've personally always found a little uninspiring...I'm a sucker for those earth tones with just a hint of purples/blues)and it has some eye appeal. Morgans like that are always fun to examine really closely! You've got a really nice coin there...I'm going to look around for more of your posts and hopefully find some additional Morgan pictures.

Looks 65 from where I'm sitting. Gorgeous coin.
