after reading about the fake Pamp Suisse 1 Oz gold bars hitting the Florida Fun Show, and written up on Coin World recently, I rushed to my safe to check my stash of bars...since these were bought a few years back from MCM and JM Bullion, they seemed safe, and, 99.99% convinced they are fine..BUT...I'm willing to send them into a grader that slabs bars, IF there is someone that does this. It's cheaper than buying the metal wave detector and bullion wand at 800+, although, I may buy one of those to bring to shows to check possible purchases. Sad, but, things are getting rough in the world of forgery bullion, one must do wahtever it takes to protect cash out. The fakes are so close to real bars now, it's scary. Read the Coin World article, if this is news to you!
Let me know if anyone slabs bars(I would think THEY do the proper testing also, before putting in a slab)

Bullion coins, but nobody that I know of does bars.

Adding $10 or $20 make it expensive for bullion.

Burton, I've seen bars in PCGS wtc recovery slabs. Though I'm sure that may have only been a one time thing only for the wtc recovery ?

The problem is, I don't want to take the gold bars out of the sealed packets..I'm going to call my local coin shop, and, ask them how they test these, when people bring them in for resale...basically, it will behoove me to learn all the trade tests used for such..I know it's not complicated, just need to get the proper kits, and practice...again, the sealed bars must stay sealed, so, a sigma analyzer may be in the works.
