Seems as though I read the value if one were to take an Silver American Eagle dollar would be spot price plus $1 and for a CML it would be spot plus $3. Is this correct?
Thanks,
z

I am from Canada, and I always pay more for the American silver eagle. Canadian silver maple is always cheaper.
Hard to find the ASE in my provence, even when I cross the border to north dakota, the Canadian is cheaper.

I would think that Maple's are cheaper in Canada whereas ASE's are cheaper in the United States... But where I generally buy most of my bullion from, the price is about the same for both...
Rest in Peace

Over spot depends more on who you buy them from and in what quantity. Buying one at a time will always cost more for either.

I just can't see paying the higher price for Maples or Eagles. If I got in a pinch and had to sell one, would I get the current spot price PLUS a dollar for the eagle, or the spot price PLUS $3 for the Maple? I am just trying to weigh the advantages of buying a coin over just a round.

If you know of someone selling Eagles for $1 over spot message me and I will take them all.

Wholesalers pay $2 over spot direct from the mint. They then mark them up and sell them to the local dealers in the area. The local dealers then mark them up so that they can make a buck.

The local wholesaler for our area is a member of our coin club and sells them to members for $3 over spot 1 or 100.

Check any of the online bullion dealers. I'm sure most if not all of them buy at $2 over spot and see what they will sell them to you for.

I have never seen a place that paid three over spot for silver maples, in fact the buy back price at the online dealers I use pay less for the maple than the silver eagle, even on "gold" the maple buy back is less than the gold eagle.
