This 1798 Large Cent is interesting because of the strike weakness. I don't remember the attribution -- been too long and I never wrote it down. I want to say F12 but I think it may net at VG10. Is that a die clash I see?

By actual wear I'd say that it is a VF-20. I imagine that PCGS gave a Fine-12 because of the strike issue. The minor planchet lamination on the "RT" at the top might have set PCGS off too, although it shouldn't. It is very nice surfaces for a piece of early copper.

I agree with the F-12 crowd.

Nice coin. Is there a planchet flaw in LIBERTY?

F15 but I think they graded one lower at F12 due to the strike
