I would be very wary of picking those things up at prices like that. When the single, sole person started inundating all the coin sites with this variety and its supposed scarcity, people took a look at what they had. I have a very respected friend who had 10 of them. They just weren't worth it to have any certified, because no one had recognized it. Now that it hit Trends and some TPG's recognize them, then they will start showing up more and more and the prices will drop. The artificial "guestimate" that Trends put on these was way over the top.

I applaud za75 for his work getting the Far 2 accepted. That said, I'd like to know how many examples he personally tucked away, which I believe he never answered.

@okiecoiner - The fact that one person had 10 of them doesn't mean they aren't "scare" -- one may have only needed to go through 1000 1932 nickels before the variety was known to find 10. And until this year, your friend wouldn't be able to certify them even if he wanted too -- ICCS still hasn't recognized the variety. As for what they're worth, that's for the irrational market to decide. On ebay there are currently 133 1925 5 cents listed, 41 1926 far 6 listed, and 2 1932 far 2 listed.

I know someone who recently sold one in MS-64, for a _lot_ of money... The same collector who sold that one, easily has several more in mint state condition.

These are everywhere. As stated ICCS still does not recognize them . Got 4 back earlier this year 2 AU 55. 2 AU 50.
Date spacing varieties are a great way to get yourself into trouble. For an example the 1896 Large cent wide date will work.
I would venture a guess that if the 1926 Far 6 was discovered in this modern era of collecting it would most likely be meh.... Who cares.

I'll point out that the "Far 2" seems to have been taped to the holder to make it appear that NGC designated it. You can see the tape lines and the shadow of the 2 on the real label. Seems a bit cheesy to me.

@kbbpll -- Great catch! That explains why NGC verify didn't breakout it as a Far 2. Someone still has to educate them and let them know that PCGS recognizes the variety now.

I love NGC's online verify feature. To help readers, here's an image...

It also has too much wear on the left leaf on the reverse to be AU
