I have seen this question asked about other coins but not Morgan silver dollars. I am a noobie to coin collecting. I own/inherited 55 Morgans and none of them are slabbed. Thanx in advance.

I feel like I don't have many... maybe 150 if that. I'd guess that 75% of them are slabbed. "That's how I roll."

Mine are in Coin World holders, so they're all 'slabbed'. Others are in graded commercial slabs.

Go into any coin shop and look at the Morgans displayed. You will find maybe 10% are slabbed, the remainder are in flips or raw.

Same with many collections. Some folks buy in slabs, others crack open the slabs and put them in their albums.

At $15 to $30 to slab a common date and grade Morgan, the majority are not going to be encapsulated.

Most lower mint state Morgan dollars are not even worth slabbing

Come to the show in Ft Myers and 3/4 of the tables are focused on Morgans, and the majority are slabbed...

For my collection, none of my Morgans are slabbed, and I questions the value in slabbing them. But if I was to add an MS CC in the future, I think I'd stick with one that was already slabbed. For the other mints, I might stick to cherry picking an unslabbed coin.

I'd say I have roughly 200 total with about 60 +/- being slabbed, about 90 in the album and the rest raw

398 Morgans with 3 more in the air. Of those, 92 are slabbed and two have been cracked out to go into my Dansco albums.

I was trying to get a feel of the percentage of slabbed Morgans in ones collection. Well, as one can see, there doesn't seem to be a overall average. The numbers are all over the place.

I've only got 5 or 6 as well. Don't own a slabbed coin at all.

I have around 35 Morgans total; 10 of which are currently slabbed and another 4 or 5 will be sent in eventually.

I have 120, with one slabbed. None in albums. The other 119, almost all well circulated, sit in 2x2s in a box. I wish not to offend anyone, but the Morgan is not my favorite coin, so the ones in the box will probably stay there as I don't feel like spending the money for a Morgan Dansco to put them in. The one slabbed Morgan that I have is a 1921 MS 65 for my slabbed type set.

Exactly three: two 1921's, and an 1883-O. None are slabbed.
