I would bet serious money they will buy it from you for what it is worth in the assigned grade. Not only as part of taking responsibility, but also as part of the grading guarantee - if the coin was submitted for a regrade now, it would not come back a 68 with the damage. Both NGC and PCGS have reputations they will go to great lengths to protect.

Got the first update in, what I'm afraid of, will be alot of frustrationsd and emailing back and forth...

Quote:
"Dear Sir
Please send back the coin.
We will redo.
Kind regards

florence"

Update again: After really questioning their numismatic competence and how the heck they were supposed to reslab the coin and undo the damage, they changed directions in their emails and instead said they would apply their guarantee on it and keep the coin.

That said, I decided to keep the coin after all for a few reasons.

-The coin isn't easliy obtainable
-The value I declared doesn't really match the actual value.

Very sorry to read your story epikur. That's sad when you can't trust a "coin expert" with your coins.
