I was bidding on the first two but got sniped; wasn't especially interested in the last one for over $20.

All three have a catalog value of $80-250+

With the British Ionian coins, catalog value does not often translate into the real world. I've sold maybe twenty of various denominations and conditions in the past 10 years. Few if any excited a great deal of interest.

I have noticed that as well, although the final auction price still seems extremely low for uncommon to rare coins. I had input a price that I would be doing back flips over if I won, so I suppose I can't be upset at losing the auctions.

I suppose this highlights the potential pitfalls of listing rare world coins with no reserve and a 99 cent start!

Back when I first started, I had the opportunity to get almost a complete set of US Philippine coins, including the commemorative 50 centavos and about half of the Culion leper issues... I backed out of the running at $250 and have been regretting that ever since. At the time, I did not realize the true scope of the rarity of the leper colony coins.
