Mentioned in Coin World article recently mentions an old breen variety (but note that no one as seen one in hand)?

Below is a possible match on a 1972-d but I am not the best at these reverse changes so any help welcome.

I am looking through massive nickel to find one for a friends upcoming article

I know there are a few nickel searchers

If anyone has one please post images here

all coins are uncirculated but maybe late die stages

Possible 1972-D with 1967?

Side by Side

Only the reverse is 1967 die

What's the big difference?

Is there a specific pickup point from the 67 versus the 72 like columns on MONTICELLO are different?

Thanks.

* Roof outlines are crisper/sharper etc?

If you can see detail in the balustrades, the pickets , then you have a reverse of 71 . Both of your 72's are reverse of 71.

As in the article:
Quote:
Seeing only minor improvement, in 1971 engravers at the Mint reworked the entire reverse design. All of the door and window outlines on Monticello were sharpened. Most visually significant, the roof balustrade was rendered in crisp detail for the first time ever on a Jefferson 5-cent coin.

My first reaction to your image before I scrolled the page had been that the coin on the left was a 72 with reverse of 67, but then I scrolled further and saw it was a 1967 :(

You can copy the images to your computer from the wed site here. Just do a right click on the image you want to copy and save that image so you can post it again or upload to your image host with a renamed file name. Then you can repost them when you want to show another on a subject. Just leave the names of the contributors of the images and you should have no problem with them.
