There are corrosion pits on the reverse.
Are there ways to prevent future damage?

You can't get rid of it but Verdi-care might stop it from getting worse .
What's with the flatten letters of e. pluribus , and that line under Lincolns ear .

Verdi care will help stop it, but as has been mentioned, it probably won't touch the actual corrosion.

It could just be the pics but it looks like it may have been lightly polished? Looks like an AU55 though. If the coin is pitted I would think a TPG would give this a 'Details - Environmental Damage' but Verdicare would probably stop it from progressing further. BadThad will know!

Thank you guys. I do not like this coin either. I grade it as MS details.

Some weakness in the highest design points on the obverse, but looks like a pretty nice coin.

MS-64RD

I'd simply rinse this with acetone and put it into an Airtite.
