I am taking the day off from work to attend this quarter launch as I have never been to one. I was just wondering if anyone is planning to go to this quarter launch next month or has anyone gone to one before? What can I expect? Are the exchanged rolls marked with a stamp for the event?

Sorry if this is not posted in the right forum!

Thanks

I think you will enjoy it. I went to one of he Lincoln Cent launches in 2009 and it was a neat experience.

For the Lincoln event, there was a presentation and then people lined up to purchase rolls of the coins. Given the frenzy over the Lincoln cents in 2009, some people skipped the ceremony and went straight to the line. I went to the ceremony and am glad I did as even with the crowd, I was able to go through the line twice. Since I drug my wife and two kids along with me, I ended up with 30 rolls worth.

The rolls are not stamped when you purchase them but many people took them to the local post office and had them stamped and cancelled so that they were dated. I did not do this as the line was long and I had to drive back home that day. I am half tempted to go but it is a 3-1/2 hour drive and I just drove much of that same stretch to Tennessee this past week.

I have been to the Cumberland Gap park before as well as Pine Mountain State Park nearby and both are very nice.

@KenKat You drugged your wife and kids to get them to go with you? Now that's some dedication! :)
