1971 Cent S Over S Over D Help (Not Sure)?

greenprint Valued Member United States 477 Posts	Posted 03/25/2016 8:27 pm I checked copper coins dot com and variety vista and can't find a RPM that looks like mine. I'm seeing an S and then to the north of it another S (or just md?) and possibly a third. What concerns me here is I'm seeing some mint mark underneath that appears to be a D. I see a vertical bar at the half way point and a hollowed out part where the hole would be. Thanks for any help. I google S over D penny and mine looks kind of similar. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 03/26/2016 05:30 am If the tops of the date digits have the same mark, that maybe what caused the top of the mint mark to be altered during the strike. The lower area is a damaged mint mark punch issue. Report this Post to the Staff
