1959 Washington quarter DDO-001, 1-O-II-C

The seller had a ton of unc 1959 quarter to look through so I was able to find two that appeared to be from the same die as what I thought was a ddo-001 so I bought 2.

They both look good both doubling and markers.

Any comments, suggestion or feedback welcome

I just saw the IGWT doubled die image that coop had on one of his older posts. They look great.

Can I ask what does this mean and where do you get that information from?
1-O-II-C

Where do find information on die pairs? The only ones I have seen are the ones on the Lincoln Cent resources website for the 4 die pairs for the 1922. I would like to learn more about identifying die pairs.

Thanks

That formula is from the older CONECA listings
1= first die found as a doubled die
O= obverse
II= class two
C= Not sure, but probably for cents.
They usually list it as date mint mark then the formula for what the DD was.

Now they list it as date-mint mark DDO or DDR -number of die. (class # is usually on the listings)

quarter dies
http://varietyvista.com/09a%20WQ%20...01/index.htm

the C means towards the center

Here is the old reference note this system is out of date..

Useful cherrypicking tip: this info is useful for picking. I have bought varieties slabbed I could of never afforded listed only as date with old system written in description or in photo for cheap as not many looking for a slabbed 1-O-II-C sometimes dealers or families of original owners sell coins by just writing what on 2x2 or slab..

I was looking up some information on the 1959 DDO-004 FS-101 and thought I would add it to this thread. I didn't realize how strong this example is for that year. Something that others might look to see. Just the motto and date areas are affected:

Well I didn't want to start a new one. I just had that set of images. I just wanted to get the information out there. Now everyone will be looking at the proof sets when they go to the coin shops.
