Hi Everyone!
I have been casually collecting since I was little. I finally got my hands on a few of the family "stash" of coins and I bought a 2016 Red Book. I would like to know if someone can tell me what the number in parenthesis in front of the mintage amount means. I uploaded an image. For example, what does the (930) mean in front of the 17,787,000 for the 1885 Morgan dollar? Thank you for help!

Thank you Moxking! I looked at the front and back of the book and found no key or explanation for the parenthesized numbers. I knew I'd find help here! :)

Possibly one of the most common questions about those numbers in (). And not easy to find the explanation in this book although everyone seams to know.
It is explained on page 23, top of page under "QUANTITIES OF COINS STRUCK, AND MINT DATA". Last paragraph in this section and last sentence.
Not easy to find.

Along the lines of what mdpmedia said, most feel that prices in the Red Book these days are just a guide, more useful for comparative analysis than actually setting a price on a coin. To me the real value of the Red Book is as a reference vs. a price guide.
