I asked CDNCoin and they confirmed it's coming.

Opinions? I'm definitely picking up the series.

Nice news, thank you Wilson!

But, many people will disagree in the value of restrikes of the 1967 in bigger size.
Mainly because:
why in 2017 to celebrate the 50 Anniversary of 100-th Anniversary, and not strike new, 150-th anniv commemorative designs of All circulation coins?

I believe, the Mint will go both ways, to make more money, and with limited mintages, everything will have demand.

In anyway, Big 5oz Canada Dollar Goose will be extremely popular, even probably more popular than 1937-2017 2oz Exclusive MC Voyageur, or 1967-2017 2oz Exclusive MC Silver Dollar.

Big Coins are just a gimmick by the mint to charge more, way more, than the item is worth in metallic content by artificially limiting mintage. Other than that, I like them.

I'm very disappointed that RCM has chosen to commemorate the 1967 series as a Big Coin series but it's really no surprise considering it's a natural extension of past releases. As nss-52 mentions, the only logical reason is the ability to increase profit. Oh well, leaves me free of temptation. As a primary collector of circulation coin who buys NCLT from time to time mainly to compliment that collection, big coins add absolutely no appeal to it whatsoever. They'd just get stored away somewhere in their separate case, never looked at.

I would hope that every collector of this sort of set also owns or buys an original 1967 set of coins. NCLT is quite unusual in that people will pay far more for an artificially created replicas while the original is still readily available.

Chances are they would do a colour version right after to milk the issue.

Yep, option of either gold plated or coloured.

Just a point that I plan on remembering because it's occurred all to often in the past... RCM coin sets which mark special occasions focusing on years such as centennials or millenniums $ell like hot cakes prior and during the event because celebrations invoke feeling of anticipation and excitement. While the sets can become a memorable keepsake, don't expect them to hold any value after the fact. They tend to absolutely plummet the next year on the same premise that nobody is interested in commemorating a birthday celebration that's already passed.

I think these will be extremely popular. Expect increased price and/or mintage.

But I'm also very disappointed that the Mint would waste these truly iconic images on commissioned coins and hand over a significant share of the profit to CC&C.

This is troublesome as both a coin collector and a taxpayer.

I'd like to see the 2017 circulation coins use the 1967 designs.

What I paid attention, this is valid for all, except the Coinage Milestones commemoration.

Even the 1908-1998 set sells with some premium or near the issue
1911-2011 and 1935-2010 sets
2012 set

Agreed, the difference is the commemorative coin sets in your example likely appealed mainly to traditional buyers of NCLT (ie proof sets, silver dollars), were released without a whole lot of hype and were all priced less than $200 at issue.

Will the RCM produce the 1 cent dove coin for the big coin series? The 1 cent piece has been withdrawn from circulation and therefore, the 1 cent coin will never be made again.

I think, it is possible.
No restriction here...assuming, that the "rounding rule" will always work, meaning, if you will bring 3 such coins to the bank and will ask for the face value, you will suppose to get 3 cents, and will get 5cents in cash or 3 cents to the account.

Except this, RAM (Royal Australian Mint, not Perth Mint) reissued in silver (2011) and bronze (2016), decommissioned 1cent and 2cents coins.

In addition, in 2016, Perth Mint issued restrike of the 1 cent and 2 cents in bigger canvas of 1oz silver coins, while the denomination of each was AUD $1, so no issue with the face value.

Yes indeed, it certainly is possible. Even though the Bank of Canada does not distribute any 1c coin any longer, the Royal Canadian Mint has a different set of regulations enabling it to reproduce past coins as Non-Circulating collector issues. The one cent remains on their list and probably will forever more. Whenever a commemorative coin of a past edition is produced, it bears the current year but also generally a dual date, for example, "1967-2017".

yes, post by Wildflower, reminded me the restrike of removed out of circulation $5 and $10 1912-1914 gold coins.
I think the NCLT edition set was issued in 2002 and coins were double dated.
