I noticed this on another thread:

https://goccf.com/t/257563#2171479

Quote:
the sites autolink feature makes capital N in nickel lowerc ASE

They remarked that typing "Jefferson" immediately followed by "Nickel" with capital J and capital N, got changed to "Jefferson" immediately followed by "nickel".

Example: Jefferson nickel

But I noticed that it also carved out the A-S-E of the word lower-case (no hyhen).

Example: lowercase

EDIT: it has stopped doing that to lowercase.

Strange.... sometimes it changes lowercase, and sometimes it does not change
lowercase.

One does not know what autolink is going to do until it is posted because the preview does not use the autolink function.

So now my edit of the previous post says it stopped doing it, but it did it to that statement!

Use proper punctuation and it works just fine. Why should nickel be capitalized?

He was illustrating a possible label for a nickel. If the function recognizes the term with both letters capitalized, why change it to lower?

Because except for this extremely rare circumstance, it's wrong. It detects the phrase regardless of case and displays it correctly. Same reason we automatically change thier to their. It's posted wrong a dozen times a day. There's dozens of other common misspellings we automatically change too.
