I was trying to hold the camera by hand plus focus. the coin is on a slight slant. this camera I was going to take it apart to build a pipe camera. I may leave this camera together. take a another camera apart to get a sensor. for the pipe camera. I am going to use the Nikon objective. I purchased to make the lens for the pipe camera. here is the image I know the focus is not that good but I was holding this by hand. I am not that steady now. I will build a mount for this unit later.

I have to ask the stupid question: What I understand as a pipe camera seems to be very different to what you are referring to. For me a pipe camera is used for checking sewer and drain pipes. The question: what is a pipe camera?

austrokiwi what you are describing is a scope. they use them to inspect pipes and what ever. the pipe camera we used was built in a pipe. the pipe allow you to get a sensor. at the right distance from the lens. when I was working from a helicopter. we used laptops to do every thing else. I will work the camera from my computer. if I can get the camera assemble properly. I found a very unit lens on ebay. I bought the lens. I am going to try to figure out how to make it work. I will pick up a voltage tester today. I know the lens works on 6 volts DC. I just have to wire the lens. try figure out which pin on the lens is ground. once I know this the rest will be easy. the tec I use to work with is gone. so its up to me. I can built the camera. if I can get this lens to mount and work electrically. I will so you what I mean. have a great one

Seems a fun project but wouldn't it be easier to just buy a machine vision camera( quite often you can find a reasonably priced one on ebay)? It will do exactly the same and you will have every thing in place to just plug the camera into your computer ( after installing the correct software)

picked up a voltage meter. I now know which pin is ground. also know which wires are pairs. for the various drives of this lens. so knowing its a 6 volt DC system. I can now build a circuit board. that I can add to the pipe camera. this should work fine.
