Hello,

Just in case anyone is interested this 1855 Three-Cent Silver coin has the lowest mintage of all of these type coins made in the 1850s; consequently, it carries a higher premium.

Let's see some opinions on the alleged aberrations:

Also, IMO the diagonal line near the opening of the large 'C' on the reverse appears to be related to the adjacent clash marks. An overlay should confirm or refute this.

I'll throw up two shots of the same area to provide some various perspectives:

And lastly here's a similar coin per NGC's example but w/o the clash:

For some unknown reason CoinFacts does not list any varieties for this one.
Rest in Peace

I would agree with both of your assessments. The clash is obvious, especially where you close upped it. I can't tell what the repunched date is underneath, but there certainly is something behind both 5's.

Neat item. Now you've made me go look for mine!

When I check HeritageCoins.com, the clash was mentioned as common on the MS examples. Proof examples not as often. The RPD was present on the proof examples and the MS examples. They maybe common on the MS ones that year from what I saw and read on that site.

There are several RPDs both documented in Flynn and Zack and not documented...
