I have an 1804 Spiked Chin 1/2 cent. It's PCGS graded as "Genuine Not Gradable"

There's no damage or corrosion, no details grading. Just Genuine Not Gradable. Why can't it be graded? How can I figure out how much it is worth? It was a gift several years ago.

Thanks!

There will be a code after the coin number and before the slash that will tell you why - there is a list on PCGS' site.

Thanks!

I'm on the website now and can't find that information. Obviously, I don't know how to use the website. Can you help?

If I remember correctly

Older PCGS slabs were labeled this way.

I think today the labeled would read something like this

1804 1/2C
Good details
Cleaned
Spiked chin

Picture is not sharp! Coin IS NOT CLEANED. It looks corroded.

The submitter probably knew it had problems and requested Genuine Only label.

That slab dates to the time when PCGS first started slabbing problem coins, they did not assign Details grades to them like they do now.

I'm sorry, but you coin is corroded. Its surfaces have been attacked by the elements.

Here is an 1804 Spike Chin that did get a grade. Note the differences in color and smoothness.
