Seller on ebay coins-rare. I purchased 4 denarii for $25-30 each but after further inspection thanks to the resources available here I got nervous. Seller cancelled the transaction and refunded my purchases. http://www.ebay.com/sch/Roman-Imper...n=coins-rareThe quantity and similarity of the wear conditions, flatness of the letters, and potential micro-bubbles on close inspection is what made me concerned. I am interested what you all think? Edited by Thunderpaste 04/12/2016 7:26 pm

They look real to me. Heavily worn and priced accordingly. The fact the seller refunded your purchase tends to support their authenticity. But that's just an opinion. You could pay roughly the same price from dealers who guarantee what they sell and avoid the crapshoot at ebay. I recommend Vcoins.com.

All look fine to me. Worn denarii are very plentiful and affordable--I have several in similar condition.

Mediocre coins from Cyprus? I do think they are legit, but the quality is not the best, and the risks exceed the potential reward. I concur, go vcoins.com.

Real or fake, I'm not sure, but good job being cautious. I''m also a big fan of vcoins over ebay.

I would bet on low grade fakes. I have seen the same type of coins coming out of Russia being sold on ebay. They are being scratched to hide casting defects but just my opinion.

Doesn't Cyprus prohibit export of antiquities ? So many fakes these days it is near impossible to keep track. Just the risk of Customs seizing the packet isn't worth the trouble for garden variety Roman silver in distressed condition. The fact that all the coins are 'distressed' makes me suspicious. In general silver coins fare better than bronze just like 50 dollar bills fare better than ones. They just don't get used as much !

That's kinda what made me concerned. The quantity and that ALL of the coins have the same wear conditions. It just seemed they were treated somehow. I am going to purchase one anyways to check out and use as a reference if it does turn out to be suspect. Will post pics later.
