I only have two photos, and both are not very sharp, but I was wondering if something looked amiss at this Buffalo's date mark (beyond it being worn)? It is not a prize coin (with a grade of F12), so no great amount of money is at stake. I am more curious then anything else. Thanks.

I'll say no, if the date was restored, it would be a bit brighter around the date. Just my .02

NGC would have certainly noted any acid treatment on the slab label, it is fairly obvious when it has been done.

Thanks for the feedback.

I plan on starting a Dansco 7112 soon and I am learning just what acid treatments look like for Buffalos. I have seen obvious acid treatments, but I assuming there's a range (from subtle to over the top) of tell-tale signs.

Nic-A-Date leaves a stain at the site of use while acetic acid/vinegar treatment will leave the entire coin with dull etched surfaces.

When you see a Nic-A-Date coin, believe me you will know it.

Looks like a good coin w/o nic-a-date. I have several without dates and I had to treat them. I wont use unless no date available. A full date and less wear on yours is good.

I don't like the discolored spot it leaves, I would rather have 1/2 date than the dark spot. I have a lot of worn ones that I can see enough to tell the date. mostly teens, 20`s. and V`s..
