Royal Canadian Mint - Designed by Canadian artist Ken Ryan, this coin uses selective colour over engraving to create a timeless portrait of a firefighter in the line of duty. In the engraved background, flames and smoke pour out of a residential home as the firefighter emerges in the foreground; he is depicted in full turnout gear, including a red helmet with visor and a tan-coloured jacket with reflective yellow-green and silver trim. Beneath the visor, the firefighter's self-contained breathing apparatus is visible—this protects him from the dangers of exposure and smoke inhalation in a fiery environment. In his right hand, the firefighter holds the bolt cutters that help him enter the burning building to search for any trapped occupants; his left hand cradles a dog he has rescued from inside the home and is carrying to safety.

Can't help but notice how this release coincides with the raging, out-of-control Fort McMurray fire.

Right shoulder has the gauge for how much air is left. It also has the button for the "pass air alarm". ( I've been a volunteer for 8 years)
Rest in Peace

I'm glad to notice the Firefighter, the 1st of the National Heroes is doing very well, "awaiting stock" although the subscription series is still available. I also see it's been added to the Facebook page of various fire departments.

Just my personal opinion but tributes through Cdn coinage made to real "heroes" is far approropriate and relevant than featuring fantasy and make-believe characters or themes.

Well said!

Just whenever money involved (in everything in our reality), the "Comics Super-hero" brand priced more than real hero.

For best example, ask 10 people about any hero from WWII, so 9 out 10 will reply: "Captain America".
