I'm curious what you do with something like this. I saw a 1976 unc gold on ebay advertised as 1/2 an ounce, so I messaged the seller (my good deed) to let him know this was not the proof version and is only 1/4 ounce and I included a link to the coin on APMEX to show him. He responded saying it is 1/2 an ounce of gold. Looking at ebay's report this item link, there's no way (that I can see) to report something like this. Do you just say, oh well, buyer beware and maybe it won't sell at 1/2 ounce prices? ebay really should have a way to easily report incorrect descriptions. Here is the auction:

Seller ended it, then reposted it incorrectly again:

But now he's saying it's a proof.

So he is, but it's not a proof (proof doesn't have beads for one obvious difference).
Rest in Peace

So, hypothetically, if you bought this, and had it tested, and it came in at 14kt BU, instead of 22kt Proof, would you get your money refunded?

You wouldn't have to test it. Here's a link to what a proof and BU version looks like (just using APMEX because they have good photos).

It's an easy error to make for someone unfamiliar with the coin, but usually if I point it out, a seller changes it, this guy insists it's the 1/2 ounce. Just seems there should be a way to report incorrect listings, especially if they could end up costing someone.

I don't think this guy should be chastised like the guy selling the fake superman set.

In this case, after a couple back and forth messages, I firmly believe he was just some guy who didn't know anything about coins. Saw the 22kt coin in a magazine, and got dollar signs flashing in his eyes.

Unlike the fakes guy... who knew better.

Then I clicked the link above....

Screw'em... he's got a nice selection of gold coins on his ebay store.... have at'im
