Yup....definitely a D, and there is some "unpleasantness" on the cheek area. And mysteriously, the sale is ended.

It is supposedly a sold listing.. I just wonder if anyone has picked up on it? A 67 d is only 2-300 bucks

WOW!

1. How did PCGS screw up that bad!
2. How could seller have missed it? Claims to know what he is doing and has a high rating.
3. If seller knew about mistake Shame on him!!
4. And this one cant be stressed enough. By the coin NOT the holder!.

Having said that can the TPG company be held responsible for any loses due to their obvious mistake?

BTW this is my 250th post!

This is not common nor rare but it does happen. I don't believe it's anyone scamming anybody . it all begins at PCGS making a dumb but legitimate mistake, then it goes to the seller who is oblivious and only looking at the slab , not the coin . he : David Lawrence rare coins (reputable dealer) then lists it as a D mint . then sold to another oblivious buyer for $1,640 .

Does anyone smell a rat? I sure do. I checked PCGS Coinfacts using the number on the holder. This is hat I found; the pop for this coin on this grade is 19 (a 19 way tie for finest known?). The pictures PCGS has do not look anywhere near to what this coin looks like.

I think we might be looking at a very careful Photo Shop snow job.

PCGS does not have an image for this coin.

There is no way this is anything other than an honest oversight from DLRC.

Well they can say that it is clearly on obvious error (because t clearly isn't a 67) and therefor falls under the mechanical error exception. In that case they could get out of any responsibility.

Yea I don't think it's a scam.. I just think that the people haven't looked at it good.. I personally was just browsing high grade SBA's trying to sharpen my grading skills and saw it.. I have seen a lot of 81-d coins and I was almost thrown off until I said hey I think this is holdered as a P.. Like others said, David Lawrence is reputable
