I surprised an old friend today, with a detour on the drive home from Toronto (Coin Expo)... needless to say, he was speechless. Definitely a bucket list item for him. Those of you who know Jaime, also know that he has written or co-authored several papers on the Twoonie, was a major contributor to the $2 section of the Charlton catalogue, and has a fantastic error collection of $2 coins. Thanks for sharing this with us SPP.
Is it true that this toonie was built by prison inmates? Is it true that the designer of the toonie, B.T., was run out of town for erecting a 15 foot wooden cross with a noose on his lawn? Can anyone confirm or dispel these rumors?

Jaime got me started in collecting when he bought (brokered via Roger) an error Twoonie from me that I had found in circulation. I used that money to start my own collection (and as far as my wife is concerned I am drawing from that seed money and haven't spent anything extra....)
Nice to put a face to the name. Oh yeah, the big Twoonie is pretty cool to!

Were those pictures really taken today? There are no leaves on the trees. What kind of godforsaken tundra lies to the east of the coastal mountains?
