This half is graded PCGS 45. In my opinion, this coin was cleaned once, and has retoned, either naturally, or otherwise. I am not sure though, I am stumped on this one! It appears there is a fingerprint at 10 o'clock on the obverse. Any opinions on this piece (pro or con) would be most appreciated.

Probably has been clened, but it is market-acceptable. I'm closer to EF-40, though.

Yeah, 40 sounds better to me too. An old, light cleaning is almost always market acceptable these days. My overall opinion of it as a 45 would be below average for the grade.

Agree EF-40 and most attractive, once cleaned or not.

That's a nice coin, nice look. Sometimes a finger print can tone on the coin, people didn't wash hands much back then. Most places didn't even have running water.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply. It is unanimous that the coin is at XF40, and that the surfaces are not cleaned, at least recently and/or obviously. Looking past the gradeflation, I think the surfaces are very pleasing, and I am going to go for it.
I am trying to train myself to distinguish between original/natural surfaces and "doctored" surfaces. It is difficult at times, I am grateful for the guidance found on this site.
