Just got a mailing with the design of another 50 pence coin for this year. The UK has issued a new 50p coin to wish Team GB success in Rio de Janeiro this summer. So the list that I have so far are: Royal Shield 950th Anniversary of The Battle of Hastings 150th Anniversary of Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit Squirrel Nutkin Jemima Puddle-Duck Mrs Tiggy-Winkle UK Team GB Of course, I have not seen any of these in circulation. Nice one! Seems like they really still have commemorative diarrhea in the UK. Every year a new pound coin, several other coins have several commemoratives for circulation and then there's of course all the non-circulation commemoratives. It could cost an annual salary just to keep up. :)
I usually try to get my UK coins from circulation. I visit Britain at least twice per year (sometimes monthly in the past), but so far I haven't really gotten much more than all of the post-Decimal Day regular circulation coins. Plus a few such commemoratives, but they remain a rare sight.
I'll try to get my hands on a few of these ones next time I visit.

Of course, I have not seen any of these in circulation. But they are all intended for actual circulation? In other words, there is no NCLT coin on the list?

Information provided by The Royal Mint is that all will circulate. And just for fun, they decided on the following 2 Pound coins: The Great Fire of London WWI Army Shakespeare Comedies (with jesters stick and hat) Shakespeare Histories (with sword and crown) Shakespeare Tragedies (with rose and skull) Britannia The pound coin for 2016 is not going to circulate.

It seems The Royal Mint is following the bad example of too many €2 commemorative coins in the Eurozone.

Why did they not do this with the Two Pound value? More money could have been taken from collectors, if they are issued into general circulation.
The only stakeholder in this project is the British taxpayer, so there would have been more benefit (indirectly), to tham.

There are quite some commemorative 2 Pound coins in circulation already. I think there have been 37 since 1986, which boils down to about 1 1/4 per year, in addition to the three different 'regular' 2 Pound coins issued since 1997. I suggest they take some numismatic loperamide in order to get control of themselves again.

JUst take what coins you would like to, from circulation. That will cost you face value only. These coins will also cost you inflation losses over decades or so. Much cheaper than buying NCLT.
You collect these if you like to, not for investment.
