What makes you ask? To me, I dont like the looks of the reverse much -- the depth of relief doesn't seem high/deep enough.

While the picture is a bit too dark to grade, I don't notice anything off. Of course, be on the lookout for a uniform brassy tone. Sometimes people replate these to grade better. It's pretty common to see this year with a woodgrain texture, which is generally hard to fake. Most of the IHC fakes of this period are 1908-S and 09-S.

For a great grading guide on IHCs, I would recommend this one written by Rick Snow, a recognized expert of the series.

1905 is not a date where I expect to see counterfeits. Surface may have been messed with, but doubt they will make a die for a common date coin. Pictures are not good enough to see details. You may have to remove the 2X2 to get a better pic.

It looks real, and it seems to be MS by the looks of the pic.

The dealer is selling it for 90 dollars and has it graded as MS 64 RB. The store is in a part of Canada where there's not that much interest in American coins (compared to the rest of Canada, US). It looks more red than brown and almost proof like. I might be able to get the price down 20-25 dollars. I wanted to see if anyone noticed anything about it that might seem fake. I've seen the coin in person don't know much about Indian Head cents. None of the MS60-65 I've seen yet on the internet have the eye appeal of this coin so it's tough to compare it to others.

My biggest concern would be for a replated coin, where color is a key determinant. If the guy's trying to sell it as MS 64 from those photos, he needs to revisit his process. I cannot even tell if it's XF-45 from those pics, so I don't think you should be swayed by "eye appeal" at this point (imo). I highly recommend that grading guide, and if you can't see the coin in person, I wouldn't pay more than AU price. The site I linked to also has price guides for circ and MS grades.

I would pass on that coin.
A pcgs graded ms64 rb only runs about $80.
