I might be doing a display for the Hartland Trade show this year and am wondering how to go about doing it?

The only example I found on C.C.F. is Sap's Greek set up.

I mean coins are two sided so unless I get doubles of everything? Do I just take pictures?

I suppose some background information is in order....

I worked for an art gallery in Hartland, NB and my boss and I still talk antiques, go to the Sussex flea market and all that jazz. She wants use (the coin club I am in) to set up a show (for free) at a trade show.

I want to put the "show" back in show and sale. I have a theme (Numismatic history of Carleton County, NB) and a locking display case.

The idea is to get together trade tokens, cheques, masonic pennies, good for tokens and back up info (old postcards showing banks/churches in question) and place it in my case.

I have never been to a numismatic museum and have no idea of what is usually done. Any suggestions/pictures?

You can try putting a mirror on the back wall, but the display might get a little too crowded that way.

I half understand what you mean, Hello There. The mirror would reflect teh back like in a Western salon.

My case lays flat on the table and the images would be inverted anyways.

Any other ideas/tips/examples?

Sounds like this might be fun. However, when displaying anything of value, such as coins, remember some people are just not to honest. In many places coins, stamps, money of any kind have a habit of walking away. Smartest thing is to use the glass display cases with locking tabs. Leave nothing in a place where it could be touched or just vanished.

How tall is your display? If it's tall enough, you can get the months for coins (just saw the idea the other day) and stand them on those. The mirror will work that way

I'll keep thinking of any other way.

The ANA museum in Colorado Springs uses various ways to display their coins. The Harry W. Bass Jr. collection is attached to the wall and vertical display cases in either airtite style holders or pinned to the wall by a clear disc. Pictures of this are below:

They also have some coins on small stands

Sometimes they have duplicates to show both sides, but that is kind of difficult with rarities and one-of-a-kinds.

When I did my ANA World's Fair of Money exhibit last summer, I used mirrors underneath a clear piece of acrylic (like a safety picture frame glass) that I put up on empty hard plastic coin rolls. I think it seemed to work pretty well, but you can be the judge.
