Looks like RDV005. A bit of glare making it a bit difficult, but looks it to me.

I don't generally pay much attention to late 80's cents. What's the interest here?

The RDV006 is worth some money on the 1988 P & D.

Mostly characterized by the weak FG? I've got a weak and an absent FG from the 70's, but I can't find the binder they're in. Do you remember what year that was?

I think the weak FGs on various dates in the 60s and 70s are related to abrasion. The RDV005 and RDV006 are associated with the transitional cents in 1988 and 1989P. In those years, the 1988s had the 1989 reverse (RDV006) introduced so most 1988PD have the RDV005 but some with the RDV006. Later in 1989, some P cents have the 1988 reverse (RDV005). John's been lucky enough to find a few 1988s, but not me. I keep flipping, and flipping.....

Thanks Rackster, that sort of straightens things out ( ). I like how we call the years after the Great Copper Robbery "transitional years". Even the close- and wide- AMs of the 1990s are sometimes referred to as being in the transitional years.

I need to get over my prejudice and hurt feelings and actually take a look at the Zincolns as I toss them into the Return Bin.

Here's a link on this transitional cent: http://lincolncentresource.com/Feat...988RDV6.html

I encourage you to do a little reading on the Zincolns; there are a number of interesting variety cents since the switch to zinc. As you are aware of the WAMs and CAMs, so those are just a couple of the popular zincolns. And the number of cool DDOs and DDRs. You might find that they present the larger opportunity for finding something valuable. Most are still found in higher grades, so the value there is locked in going forward.

Enjoy the hunt!!
