Picked up the '79 CC, my second CC so far, for a ridiculously stupid low price. What do you guys think ? Thanks for the input... Of interest to me also, is the line running in front of the Liberty, on the Obverse picture. What would cause that ?

Very nice coin ... getting it at a good price is a bonus.
I would say a easy XF 45
With a possible older cleaning.
There might be a layer/film of ...crud .. for my lack of a better work. Others might disagree ... I would treat it with VerdiCare. I have had success with taking that film off.
But it could expose the shine of a older cleaning.
This is just my opinion .. others might feel differently

I'm at xf45 too. Maybe a rinse in acetone would help. I also think it had a light cleaning in the past. Still a nice coin. The face gashes are distracting to me.

EF-45. Lightly cleaned in the past but I think it is market acceptable.

EF sharpness, NOT market acceptable. I had a 1796 Half Dime with a look like this, and NGC flunked it. I even lost on appeal after I sent it to back to NGC. I've seen early coins get a lot of slack, but this one didn't get any.

I don't know something seems off about this dollar to my eye. Those orange spots look like rust. What's the weight?
I don't normally ask but what did you pay? The "for a ridiculously stupid low price" makes me question why it went cheap.

Am I seeing things or not? What are the three marks in front of her hair that look like stamped initials, HRH or HBH?

Longbow;
Yes, your picture shows it nicely as not initials but that is clearly a damaging imprint of some kind.

I'm wondering if the rust spot is some kind of splash on the coin. The reverse, looks as though it has a mud smear in one small section of the denticles. I'm loath to dip it in Acetone, but may have to with this one.

Train tracks. It's caused by the rim reeding of one coin slamming into the surface of another. Common on bagged coins such as Morgan dollars. The unusual line looks like just a bag mark, it's not in a clash location

Bill, you may be right but this is a CC Morgan and they get away with murder at TPG's! They'll probably * it for eye appeal due to the orange toning
