Hi, I'm trying to figure out what this coin is please and hoping to get some help? It's 28mm in diameter, I think it's copper (a magnet doesn't stick to it), the head faces right, Britannia faces left, there seems to be a ring around the circumference like a cartwheel coin although I know it's too small and it has coin alignment. We ruled out a halfpenny as Britannia's arm is down not up. The coin is very worn. Any help would be really appreciated please, as a family we've been at this for years. Many thanks

I still think it could be a half penny. Britannia's arm varied between up, straight across, or down. Can you make the 2nd image (the obverse) clearer?

Thank you for your reply.

I think my attempt at a clearer image has just made it worse. Sorry.
Thank you for replying and your help. My eight year old is desperate to know what it is.

Do you know if there is a website with the different halfpennies shown please? I've tried to look for one but can't find all the variants.

Numista is a good resource. This should be UK coins: http://en.numista.com/catalogue/royaume-uni-1.html

It looks like a George III British halfpenny of 1806 or 1807 to me - Britannia's arm is bent and I think the upper arm has simply worn off.

I've attached a photo of my 1806 halfpenny for comparison:

Thank you both for your replies and help. We thought that the rim around the edge ruled out the George iii halfpenny, is it possible that it is a George iii and it's just worn down that way? The "rim" seems thicker than the beading on yours. The platform (line) that Britannia is on doesn't seem to go as far across as yours, do they differ alot in production? Maybe I'm over analysing it. Thank you again. I've had the coin as a good luck charm for about 25 years, it'd be really nice to finally know what it was.

I concur with the previous posts that (assuming it is an official coin) the piece is a halfpenny of 1806 or 1807. If so, there may still be traces of the deep groove that ran around the centre of the edge of these particular halfpennies.
With regard to your mention of "cartwheel" coins, although there were some cartwheel halfpenny patterns (dated 1797), the bust on these is larger, and there is no exergue line below Britannia - the waves extend to the raised border which is much wider than appears on the reverse of your photo.
